A trailer lost its load of palm trees onto a section of Lewis Boulevard, causing a temporary roadway shutdown in Hendry County.

According to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, it happened at 7:30 a.m. after the semi-trailer loaded with approximately 60 palm trees somehow lost its load.

Lewis Boulevard in Clewiston from U.S. 27 to 13th Street closed temporarily on Wednesday morning while crews removed the trees from the roadway.

At around 1:36 p.m., the roadways cleared, and normal traffic resumed.

The cause of the tree spillage remains under investigation.
