Collier County Commissioner Race: District 3 and 5 incumbents face re-election battle

The race is on for Collier County commissioner! Incumbents from District 3 and 5 will fight to maintain their seats.

In District 3, Four candidates are vying for the seat for County Commissioner. Candidates John C. Johnson, Frank A. Roberts, and Floyd “Tag” Yarnell are ran against incumbent County Commissioner Burt Saunders.

Burt Saunders won the primary with 47.1% of the votes. Saunders will go on to face independent candidate Richard Conover in the fall.

Johnson received 5.4%, Roberts received 29.3% and Yarnell received 18.2%.

For District 5 incumbent County Commissioner William L. McDaniel Jr ran against Ralph Rodriguez.

Incumbent McDaniel Jr. won the primary as county commissioner with 63% of the votes, Rodriguez received 37%.

Polls in Southwest Florida closed at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night. The general election will be held on Nov. 5.
