The Weather Authority is tracking isolated rain and storms arriving inland before moving towards the coast.

The Weather Authority Meteorologist Zach Maloch said, “Tuesday will be a hot day; however, the peak temperatures will be slightly lower due to increased cloud coverage and more moisture in the air. Isolated storms will begin to occur along the coast starting this afternoon.”

Tuesday

While we are starting dry, we’ll see multiple rounds of rain and storms this Tuesday.

Isolated rain and storms will develop along the coast in the early afternoon, with scattered rain and storms arriving inland through the afternoon and along the coast again by the evening.

Highs will be cooler and in the lower to mid-90s.

Wednesday

It’s mainly dry with some patchy fog, possibly Wednesday morning.

Scattered rain and storms will push through the area for the afternoon and continue through the evening.

Highs will be in the lower 90s with “feels like” temperatures ranging from 102 – 107°.

Thursday

We could see a few showers possible along the coast or just offshore for Thursday morning.

Afternoon rain and storms will once again develop and impact most of Southwest Florida through the afternoon and evening.

Highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s.

Tropics Update

The Weather Authority is watching the tropics closely.

Tropical Storm Francine has developed into a Category 1 hurricane.

Francine is forecasted to strengthen into a Category 2 Hurricane before making landfall along the central Louisiana coastline Wednesday afternoon/early evening.

Tropical storm watches and warnings are in effect for portions of Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

There is a danger of life-threatening storm surge for portions of the Upper Texas and Louisiana coastlines where a storm surge warning is in effect.

On Wednesday, damaging and life-threatening hurricane-force winds are expected in portions of southern Louisiana, where a hurricane warning is in effect.

Francine is expected to bring heavy rainfall and the risk of considerable flash flooding for much of Louisiana and Mississippi through Thursday.

An area of low pressure designated as AL92 is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the central tropical Atlantic.

Environmental conditions appear generally conducive to development during the next few days when some development of this system is possible.

Right now, this system looks to be weak and not a concern.

Over the next seven days, there is a 40% chance of further development.

A trough of low pressure located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing a broad area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

This trough is expected to interact with an approaching tropical wave in a couple of days.

After that, environmental conditions appear favorable for a gradual development of this system, and a tropical depression could form later this week while the system moves west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph.

The Weather Authority is watching this area closely as it looks to become Tropical Storm Gordon this weekend as it moves through the Central Atlantic.

Over the next seven days, there is a 70% chance of further development.
