Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash on U.S. 27 in Glades County

A fatal hit-and-run occurred early Saturday on U.S. 27, just north of Boar Hammock Ranch Road in Glades County, resulting in the death of a pedestrian.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle believed to be a semi-truck with a flatbed trailer was traveling northbound on U.S. 27 when it struck a pedestrian walking in the inside northbound lane.

The vehicle fled the scene and has not yet been identified.

The pedestrian came to rest in the northbound travel lane, where a second vehicle, also traveling north, ran over the pedestrian.

The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are searching for the driver of the first vehicle and have asked anyone with information to come forward.
