According to authorities, a couple was rescued along Estero Boulevard by Fourth Precinct Deputies.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, a rescue boat and marine deputies were deployed to Fort Myers Beach, Thursday night. The video of the rescue can be seen on this Facebook post shared by LCSO.

LCSO deputies were first deployed at the foot of the Matanzas Pass Bridge Thursday evening.

Just after 8 p.m., Sheriff Carmine Marceno shared a video on Facebook showing marine deputies preparing for rescues on Fort Myers Beach.

The rescue team’s deployment comes as Hurricane Helene continues to move north toward the Big Bend area of Florida and storm surge has begun to impact Southwest Florida.

Deputies are responding to calls with their trucks and swamp buggies.
