FEMA assistance available for some affected by Hurricane Helene

Florida homeowners and renters in counties with uninsured damage or losses caused by Hurricane Helene may be eligible for FEMA disaster assistance.

This is according to a press release from the office of Sen. Marco Rubio.

The current eligible counties are:

  • Charlotte
  • Citrus
  • Dixie
  • Franklin
  • Hernando
  • Hillsborough
  • Jefferson
  • Lafayette
  • Lee
  • Levy
  • Madison
  • Manatee
  • Pasco
  • Pinellas
  • Sarasota
  • Taylor
  • Wakulla

There are two ways to apply. The first is by going to the Disaster Assistance website.

The second method is to apply by calling 1-800-621-3362.

Before applying, you need the following information.

  • Address of the damaged home or apartment
  • Names of the people residing in the household
  • A description of the disaster damages
  • Insurance Information
  • Social security number
  • A reliable telephone number where you can be reached or left a message
  • An address where you can receive mail
  • If you want your disaster assistance funds sent directly to your bank, you will need to provide FEMA with your bank information
