Bank of America said an apparent glitch that caused widespread outages has been fixed.

The bank won’t say what specifically caused the problem but acknowledged in a statement “some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts … These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Some customers were alarmed to see zero balances during the outage.

The outages began shortly after 12 p.m. on Wednesday and within three hours, about 5,000 customers at the bank reported problems to Downdetector.

As many as 4,297 outages were reported at 3:03 p.m. Wednesday, more than 2,700 just before 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

People are fuming on the Bank of America Facebook page. One person said they missed paying rent because of the issue.

Bank of America is encouraging people to post on its Facebook Page if they have an issue.
