The Weather Authority is tracking more rain and storms this Thursday, possibly heavily impacting some areas this afternoon.

The Weather Authority Meteorologist Zach Maloch said, “An East wind pattern will cause dry and pleasant conditions in the morning before bringing an east coast sea breeze along with scattered rain and storms.”

Thursday

More rain and storms are coming for your Thursday afternoon and evening plans.

Thanks to an East wind, the heaviest rain looks to move in late afternoon and continue throughout the evening.

We could see 0.25 – 1.00″ of rain today.

Temperatures remain at and above normal, with highs in the lower 90s.

Friday

Starting mainly dry Friday morning with a few coastal showers possible.

While lunchtime will be dry, scattered rain and storms will develop throughout the afternoon and continue through the evening.

This means we will have rain and storms around for Friday evening high school football games.

Highs will be warm once again and in the lower 90s.

Saturday

Make some outdoor plans for Saturday, as rain will move in for Sunday and continue through much of next week.

While we will still be tracking scattered showers and storms Saturday afternoon and evening, the rain coverage will be far less than what’s expected.

Highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s.

Tropics Update

The Weather Authority is keeping an eye on a lot of activity in the tropics.

The Weather Authority Team is tracking Hurricane Kirk, a major hurricane in the Central Atlantic, Tropical Storm Leslie in the Eastern Atlantic, and one other area to watch in the Gulf of Mexico.

The good news is that the strongest tropical systems, Hurricane Kirk and Tropical Storm Leslie, are both forecast to stay in the Atlantic and far away from land.

WINK News Weather Authority Meteorologists focus more on the disturbance that has a low chance of developing in the Gulf of Mexico over the next seven days.

Disorganized showers and thunderstorms over portions of the Gulf of Mexico are associated with a low-pressure surface trough.

A broad area of low pressure will likely develop over the Gulf of Mexico late this weekend or early next week. Still, the system’s potential interaction with a cold front could limit subsequent tropical or subtropical development.

Models continue to keep this system’s development on the weak side, but heavy rain continues to be the main impact, with rain and storms likely Sunday through Wednesday next week.

WINK News Weather Authority Meteorologists say that Southwest Florida could see 3-6″ rain over the next seven days.

Flooding from this heavy rain can be an issue in communities that usually see impacts during heavy rain events.
