A man has been arrested after allegedly purchasing over $4,000 worth of paint supplies in Port Charlotte using a fraudulent business account.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28-year-old Nelson Jeovany Hernandez Gonzalez on Wednesday.

According to the CCSO, Gonzalez made a large purchase of paint supplies at a Sherwin Williams store in Port Charlotte using a business charge account.

The investigation revealed that Gonzalez had fraudulently used the business charge account and resold the paint to other contractors at a lower price.

The total amount of the purchase was $4,746.31.

The sheriff’s office also stated that Gonzalez had attempted similar purchases in Lee County, but stores there refused to sell him the large quantities he was trying to buy all at once.
