Credit: WINK News As Hurricane Milton approaches Florida, ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte has released its evacuation plans ahead of the storm. The Port Charlotte location will keep its emergency room open to deliver emergency medical treatment, but the hospital suspended admissions until the storm has passed. Inpatients will be discharged as appropriate while working to transfer at-risk and critical patients to the Physicians Regional Healthcare System in Naples. Provide below is additional precautions taken by ShorePoint Health: ShorePoint Health Medical Group and its associated clinic locations will close at noon. This includes all physician and provider offices in Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda. Beginning at noon, elective procedures and surgeries will be canceled. After the storm, the hospital will reschedule elective services and surgeries as soon as possible. ShorePoint Health’s Freestanding Emergency Department in Cape Coral will close at 5 p.m. ShorePoint Center Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine clinics will continue to see patients at the Punta Gorda and Venice sites until noon. ShorePoint Health Punta Gorda Hospital will remain closed due to damage from Hurricane Helene. The patient information line is 941-766-4139. HCA Florida Englewood Hospital to transfer patients in preparation for Hurricane Milton. Contacts of patients are being notified at this time. Patient transfer is expected to be complete by noon on Tuesday when the hospital closes.
