Driver arrested after fleeing police, causing multi-car crash in Fort Myers

The Fort Myers Police Department has arrested a man accused of causing a multi-car crash in Fort Myers.

There was a large response to a multi-car crash with a rollover in Fort Myers just after 8 p.m. on Friday night at the intersection of Park Avenue and Second Street.

The driver, 39-year-old Ahmad Jamal Alexander, was arrested on multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding the police and child neglect.

FMPD said they cannot currently confirm if this was a pursuit at the time of impact but that the officer had attempted a traffic stop, which the driver fled.

FMPD said a 12-year-old and 22-year-old were transported with minor injuries.

The bond for Alexander has not been set.
