FGCU student arrested, accused of making social media threat against university

Florida Gulf Coast University police have arrested a student accused of sending a threat to the university through Snapchat.

Twenty-three-year-old Nolan Philip Romeo Marcoux was charged with intimidation by written/electronic threat of mass shooting/terrorism act toward the FGCU campus.

He was booked Friday morning.

The university has confirmed Marcoux is a student there.

The university police department, in conjunction with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the Fort Myers Police Department and the FBI all moved in to apprehend Marcoux.

Authorities have him in the Lee County Jail, and they stated that there is no current threat to the campus.
