House fire in downtown Fort Myers caused by smoking

A house fire caused a massive scene overnight near downtown Fort Myers, with smoke visible from the home.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, officers responded to 2666 Blake St. for a house fire at 2:19 a.m. Friday.

When officers arrived at the scene, the home was fully engulfed. Three adults and one child evacuated.

The Fort Myers Fire Department rescued three dogs from within the home while they were still in their crates and extinguished the fire.

One person sustained minor burns to his head and shoulders. EMS transported him to the hospital.

One woman was uncooperative and rushed back into the home while crews were performing their duties.

The fire reportedly originated in her room.

FMFD determined the cause of the fire to be from smoking and accidental.
