16 transported after 2 airboats crash in Collier County

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, two airboats crashed south of U.S. 41 east between mile markers 74 and 75, leaving well over a dozen people injured.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, of the two airboats on the scene, one had 20 people on board, and the other had 13 people.

Authorities said multiple passengers were injured, and 16 passengers had to be transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Multiple agencies responded to the crash, which happened sometime after 3 p.m. Friday.

Fire trucks, ambulances, plus several police cruisers crowded the parking lot of a boat ramp, and they have since cleared the scene.

CCSO said that FWC is the lead agency in the crash.
