The Port Charlotte IHop Manager, Bobbi Snyder, told WINK News that customers helped raise $1600 for Diaz’s family on Wednesday, by dining there from breakfast to closing time.
Diaz was shot and killed last month while conducting a traffic stop.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said Diaz spent an hour working to help a homeless man before that man turned on him and shot him.
A portion of Wednesday’s sales were donated to help cover funeral costs and related expenses.
Diaz is survived by his wife and four children.
