Punta Gorda City Council and the city’s various committees and boards will no longer use the Military Heritage Museum as a meeting venue, museum Executive Director Isaac James said.

“On [Jan. 16], I sent an email to the city offering a termination of the lease and they did accept our offer,” James said.

Addressing Interim City Manager Melissa Reichert, City Clerk Sara Welch and other staff members, James wrote: “We have been recently approached by various groups interested in renting the Gulf Theater, but we currently have multiple dates on the calendar reserved for City Council and all board and committee meetings, despite no meetings taking place on our property.”
