Fort Myers City Council held a workshop to discuss what will replace Lee Memorial Hospital once it closes in 2027.

The Fort Myers City Council is set to meet and discuss the development of two historic sites.

Council members will meet on Monday to review the proposed development agreement for the Fort Myers NewsPress site.

The 10 acres of land is being considered for redevelopment into a mixed-use site for apartment housing and retail space.

In addition to the NewsPress site, the city council will review a presentation on the McCollum Hall redevelopment project.

The building was established in 1938 and was a centerpiece of the music community, hosting notable artists such as Louie Armstrong and Duke Ellington.

Current plans will redevelop the building into a community gathering place.

WINK News will be at the meeting, where our reporters will update whenever new information becomes available.
