HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida mother is accused of beating her daughter before sending her to middle school wearing a shirt that said she’d received a “good woopin” for poor grades.

Melany Alexander, 31, now faces child abuse charges after the “public shaming” of her daughter that landed her behind bars. School officials contacted police about the T-shirt when the girl arrived at school.

“My eating French Fries and being a social butterfly is over because I know why my parents send me to school,” read the two-sided black text on the shirt, according to CBS affiliate KPHO.

The station also reports that bruises were found on the child that indicated abuse.

Alexander has been arrested four times in the past four years on charges including criminal mischief, stalking and probation violations, according to court documents. She is held with a $2,500 bond and was ordered to stay away from the child.
