Caloosahatchee Bridge shuts down due to crash

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The northbound lanes of the Caloosahatchee Bridge in downtown Fort Myers were shutdown Saturday evening while police investigated a deadly crash.

Fort Myers police told WINK News a motorcycle crashed and the driver was thrown off the bridge around 6:30 p.m. The motorcyclist has died. At this point, police have not released the name of the driver.

Our crew reported there was also a crash on the southbound lanes, but only one lane was closed in that direction.

Police said the northbound lanes will remain closed while police investigate. They recommend drivers find an alternate route.
