Marco kids outsmart a potential kidnapper after being offered “free candy”


MARCO ISLAND, Fla.- Children ran after a man in a car pulled over to offer them free candy.

The kids say they were confronted by three men inside of a Mercedes; one offered them free candy. Police say the attempted kidnapping happened around 7:30 p.m. on Delbrook Way on Marco Island.

The kids were playing outside when the men pulled up. Instead of staying to talk, the boys took off running. The kids say they knew what to do because they had just completed a DARE program.

Marco Island Police are looking for the men in the Mercedes. If you have any information contact them.
