ESTERO, Fla.- A new Walmart Supercenter opens in Estero today, more than 10 years in the making. This store was first talked about in 2003.
The store is on the corner of Estero Parkway and U.S. 41 and is adding 300 jobs to the workforce, both full time and part time.
The store is a Walmart Supercenter, so it will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It has a full grocery store and pharmacy.
The grand opening also is a benefit to the community. Walmart is giving $8,000 in grants to local organizations including the Harry Chapin Food Bank, Dress for Success, Goodwill and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
There will be another family fun day event to celebrate the opening on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. featuring family activities and free food samples.
