FORT MYERS, Fla.- Authorities are asking for any pictures or video that can help track down the man responsible for killing one, and shooting five others at ZombiCon Saturday night.

As of 6 p.m. Monday evening, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers has received more than 50 anonymous tips related to the shooting.

This shooting is also trending online. People are using the hashtag “love Fort Myers” to comment on the shooting and to discuss what this means for our area. They are online asking for an end to the violence and more love for the city.

Just days after the deadly shooting at Zombicon in Fort Myers. Iconic images of the city are being shared online with the hashtag “lovefortmyers.”

The trending pictures are of places such as the downtown River District, the Edison Theatre and the Caloosahatchee River. The campaign is a symbol of love and a move to end the violence in Fort Myers.

Detectives are still piecing together what happened Saturday night. Fort Myers Police Lt. Victor Medico says social media has been a major help as they work to solve this crime.

“If your taking video or snapping pictures of costumes, you may have inadvertently captured the suspect,” said Lt. Medico.

Lt. Medico calls the tips, videos and pictures — invaluable, but, they still need more tips to find the person who pulled the trigger killing Tyrell Taylor and injuring five others.

“We will follow up on every one of them and hopefully bring closure to this heinous crime,” Lt. Medico tells WINK News.

“This is an extremely high profile event, with thousands of potential witnesses. In the age of technology in which we live, many individuals have smart phones and were recording video at the time of the shooting,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator. “If you happened to be in close proximity of the shooting and may have captured some video that could be of assistance, or perhaps overheard suspicious conversation or saw unusual behavior, we need to hear from you.”

Anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers 24 hours a day at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477), or by uploading video or information to the tips page on the Crime Stoppers website, www.swflcrimestoppers.org. Tips made online are completely anonymous, and no IP addresses can be identified through use of this system. All callers will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 from Crime Stoppers and $5,000 from the Fort Myers Police Department.
