FORT MYERS, Fla. – Fort Myers police say one man is in custody after leading officers on a chase through the heart of downtown Thursday night.

Lt. Jay Rodriguez says the man was wanted for questioning in a previous aggravated assault case, but would not provide any further details.

Rodriguez says a patrol officer on a bicycle spotted the man downtown around 10pm and told him to stop. He says the man stopped for a second then ran. Police eventually found him hiding in bushes outside the old Ambassador Hotel at the foot of the Edison Bridge. Rodriguez says the man resisted arrest but was taken into custody without injuring any officers.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
