SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) – Chile’s government is taking steps to limit the impact of a 48-hour strike by civil aviation authority workers.

The stoppage called for Thursday and Friday is expected to cause delays of some flights just days before the Christmas holidays. But it’s not expected to cause major disruptions because traffic controllers and others aren’t joining in the stoppage.

The government also said Thursday that it would replace striking workers who are demanding better benefits and job conditions.

LATAM airline says it has suspended the sale of tickets for both days. Latin America’s biggest airline also says passengers can change to flights on different days without extra cost.

Smaller carriers rescheduled some flights.

A 24-hour strike by Chilean civil aviation workers in September grounded dozens of flights and affected thousands of passengers.
