Naples city leaders vote to restore boating speed zones around Moorings Bay

Published: Updated:

NAPLES, Fla. – City leaders voted on a new ordinance to restore slower speed limits at Moorings Bay Wednesday.

The state removed idle speed zones, but signs about speed restrictions remained. Now the state has ordered those signs come down.

Residents said they fear large wakes created by speeding boaters.

Naples officials voted to restore the slower speed limits at Park Shore Marine and the city’s three bridges, but taxpayers say that motion is not enough to keep their private docks safe.
