3 witnesses in Zombicon footage speak to detectives

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Three of 11 witnesses shown in surveillance video from a deadly 2015 zombie-themed festival spoke with detectives Thursday, authorities said.

A shooter at Zombicon in downtown Fort Myers opened fire killing one man, Expavious Tyrell Taylor, and injuring six others on Oct. 17, 2015.

Nearly five months have passed with no arrests.

Fort Myers police released short clips Wednesday and described 11 individuals who appear in the footage with hopes of identifying witnesses, authorities said.

The video footage was released hours after a second lawsuit was filed against Zombicon organizers and the company that oversaw security for the event.

Three witnesses came forward shortly after Fort Myers Police Chief Dennis Eads called the Zombicon shooting a “travesty” and asked witnesses to speak up.

“They are cowards,” Eads said. “They need to come forward, need to talk, get this resolved. Seven people’s lives were altered — obviously one forever because he’s dead and it’s an absolute travesty.”

The three witnesses were able to verify details for detectives, authorities said, but they are still looking for the other individuals to provide statements.

• A white male wearing a sleeveless plaid shirt and dark colored shorts
• A male and a female seen walking together away from the incident closest to a blue table
  • The male is wearing a black shirt, black pants and a black ball cap.
  • The female is wearing a white shirt with some sort of design.
• A black male wearing a blue or dark colored hoodie and white pants
• A group of two white males and a white female
  • One male is wearing a white plaid shirt and shorts.
  • The female is wearing a black shirt and blue jean shorts.
  • The second male is wearing a black shirt and tan pants.
• A white or Hispanic male wearing a black button up shirt and jeans
  • With him was a white or Hispanic female wearing a black tank top and jeans.
• A white or Hispanic male wearing a black long sleeve shirt and dark colored pants
• A white or Hispanic female wearing a black tank top and black pants
