Arrest made in shooting of Collier deputy’s vehicle

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A 20-year-old Tampa man was arrested and is facing charges in connection with the shooting of a marked Collier County Sheriff’s Office vehicle in January, the department said Thursday.

Benjamin Carl Piccirilli Zuck, formerly of North Naples, was arrested May 6 by the Hillsbrorough County Sheriff’s Office. He is expected to be charged with criminal mischief over $1,000, which is a felony.

The unoccupied patrol vehicle was found with two bullet holes to the front passenger door while parked at a complex at Vanderbilt Beach and Livingston roads.

Investigators connected Zuck to the incident by matching a gun found in his vehicle, recovered during an unrelated Jan. 21 arrest for marijuana possession, to bullets found in the patrol vehicle, the department said.

Zuck is also facing charges for shooting at a Jeep in the Quail Woods area in late January, the department said.
