NORTH NAPLES, Fla. An 87-year-old woman dedicates her energy and spirit to the the grand game of golf.

Shirley Hartman started taking lessons from a golf professional at the Vi at Bentley Village Golf, located at 850 Retreat Drive, just three years ago. Hartman uses her daughters old golf clubs to play because she wanted to have some fun too.

“They just have so much fun and I used to walk my dog past when they were all going out to the golf course and I just said I wish I could play golf,” Hartman said.

After a few lessons and a little help from her friends, Hartman was later asked to be the president of their league.

“I said who me? I hope the other ladies won’t be upset if I said sure,” Hartman responded.

Even as the new golf leader, Hartman continues to take regular lessons to improve her game.

“If I could do this anybody could do it,” she said.
