Strong storms produce heavy rain, lightning, funnel cloud

FORT MYERS, Fla. Strong thunderstorms pushed through Southwest Florida on Thursday, producing heavy rain and at least one funnel cloud.

A flood advisory was issued for western and central Collier County for mid-afternoon, expiring at 4 p.m. A funnel cloud formed near Charlotte Harbor and moved over water around 5:30 to 5:45 p.m. Frequent lightning was also seen.

Viewers shared photos and videos of the adverse weather to the WINK News Facebook page.

About a dozen homes in the River Haven mobile home park in Punta Gorda sustained some wind damage, but nobody was hurt, Charlotte County Fire & EMS spokesperson Dee Hawkins-Garland said.
