Hundreds of Veterans are gathering at Jet Blue Park in Fort Myers to attend a pinning ceremony that honors those who served between 1955 and 1975.

Collier – Lee Honor Flight as well as the Department of Defense are partnering for this event and they ask anybody that would like to witness the event to come and watch.

For someone to be pinned today, they had to have served in the US Armed Forces between Nov. 1, 1955 and May 15, 1975, regardless of the location.

“We wanted to reach out to our Vietnam war veterans because mainly .. when they got home from war from the 60s and 70s and they deserve this so very much it’s just so important,” said Rick Cobble of Collier – Lee Honor Flight.

The doors open early this morning, and the event begins at 9 AM.
