Locals know all about the sand, surf and sunny sky at Fort Myers Beach. It comes as no surprise that is the sell to families everywhere – enjoy this slice of paradise. Adam Brockway, visiting from Chicago with his wife and two daughters, said he loves the area and the weather was great. Tony and Becky Vis, also visiting Fort Myers Beach, said the weather is a stark contrast to back home. They love it. Vacation Rental by Owners annual list of the Top 10 Spring Break Destinations for Families has Fort Myers Beach ranked in tenth place. Allan Heath has lived near the beach for more than 20 years. She feels a sense of pride that the town made the list. “It feels great,” Heath said. “It’s a great place to be and a nice place for a family.” Families have to mix with college students looking to enjoy their spring breaks. Marketing Director for Lani Kai Melissa Schneider told WINK News she believes what brings families to Fort Myers Beach is its uniqueness. “We’re one of the few islands in the state that hasn’t been yet taken over by some kind of corporate entity,” Schneider said. “Everything is privately owned, small business owned and I think other families and visitors enjoy that.” As for Heath, he said his family does not mind sharing the sand with others. “They’re having a good time and we enjoy having them here,” Heath said.
