March Madness is underway. FGCU women’s basketball team is racing to face off against the Miami Hurricanes in the NCAA tournament Friday.
Tonight, 13-seed FGCU will play an emotional game against 4-seed Miami in Coral Gables.
This is the lady Eagles’ sixth appearance in the tournament in the last eight seasons. Two years ago, the FGCU women faced UM in the tournament during the first round. The Eagles suffered a 2-point loss (62-60) to the Canes, who hit a last-second shot. It was a controversial game the team and fans remember well.
“We should have won,” FGCU forward Tytionia Adderly said. “The last time we played them, we definitely should have won. It was a great game, so I feel like this time we’re really ready.”
“We’re still mad about that,” fan Lois Fein said. “So we hope that maybe things will be seen in a different light this time. They’ll do well.”
Being out-seeded doesn’t scare FGCU. The women were the 12 seed when they took down a 5-seed Missouri in the NCAA women’s tournament last year.
