Cruz, 33, faces a felony charge of Robbery Armed With a Firearm. A Collier County Sheriff’s Office Deputy responded to a Circle K on Collier Blvd. in regards to a robbery. The clerk at the business, Joseph Sweeney, said a man entered the store and “presented a blued style semi-auto pistol,” according to the CCSO arrest report. The suspect told Sweeney to give him the register. He repeated his demand two more times, but the clerk was stunned, per the arrest report. The suspect fled the store and the clerk locked the door. Surveillance video matched the description of the suspect. Cruz has been taken to Naples Jail Center.
