Motorcyclist killed in crash on Alligator Alley in Collier County, roadway clear

Florida Highway Patrol responded to a deadly crash that caused delays for several hours on Alligator Alley in Collier County Saturday.

FHP confirms a 27-year-old motorcyclist from Miami was killed in a crash with an SUV and a pickup truck pulling a trailer along westbound Alligator Alley heading toward northbound I-75.

According to FHP, a driver in an SUV was traveling westbound on the alley about 11 miles east of State Road 29 and failed to slow down when approaching the rider on the motorcycle and hit them from behind

The motorcycle was launched into the back of a trailer pulled by a pickup truck, and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

State troopers responded to the crash scene near mile marker 69 of the westbound Alligator Alley portion of I-75.

All lanes at the scene of the crash are now clear.

The name of the victim and the names of other individuals involved in the crash were not shared in the FHP press release. The victim’s next of kin have been notified.

The crash remains under investigation.
