Two Arcadia teenagers were injured in a crash early Saturday morning in DeSoto County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

A 16-year-old female was driving a sedan southbound on County Road 769 (CR-769), north of SW Hawk Rd. around 1:35 a.m. when she traveled into the northbound lane and into the direct path of a pickup truck, driven by a 17-year-old male with one passenger.

The front left of the sedan collided with the front left of the pickup truck, causing the sedan to rotate counterclockwise while moving southwest until the car collided with a guardrail.

The pickup truck was redirected in a northeasterly direction onto the eastern shoulder where the right side of the vehicle collided with a guardrail. The truck then traveled in a northwesterly direction towards the western shoulder, where the sedan had collided with the guardrail.

The sedan came to a final rest, facing northeast on CR-769. The pickup came to a final rest, facing northeast on CR-769.

The driver of the sedan sustained critical injuries and the driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries in the crash. Both drivers and the passenger, who was uninjured, were wearing seatbelts.
