A 12-year-old Charlotte County boy faces 11 felony charges after inappropriate messages were found on his phone and he threatened to “kill everyone” at two schools, deputies say.

The boy’s father contacted Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office after finding inappropriate messages on the boy’s phone on Sept. 19. The next day, a group chat including the father, son, and another family member received more inappropriate messages.

According to authorities, the messages included explicit photos and sexual propositions. Other messages included threats to L.A. Ainger Middle School and Mooney Elementary School in Manatee County with the suspect saying he was going to “kill everyone.”

Originally, the parents had no knowledge of the messages and it seemed as though the messages were not sent from the 12-year-old’s number.

Deputies obtained the 12-year-old’s phone and eventually his laptop, iPod Touch and a tablet. They also found the addresses for both schools in the boy’s search history.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office eventually traced the activity to the boy’s address.

Deputies did say there were no firearms in the home at the time that could be used to carry out a school threat.

The boy is facing 11 felony counts of sending written threats to kill. WINK News will not name him because he is a minor.
