Fort Myers police and Lee County deputies are looking for a man who led police on a chase into North Fort Myers late Wednesday before he ditched the car and jumped into a creek.

Police pulled a car over in Fort Myers and the man drove away from officers over the Edison Bridge into North Fort Myers, where deputies joined the response.

During the chase, there was a crash authorities described as “minor.” No law enforcement vehicles were involved. The suspect eventually left the vehicle he was in and jumped into Powell Creek near some homes on Victoria Drive.

Law enforcement officers formed a large presence on Victoria Drive, northeast of US-41.

The suspect remains at large and investigators are actively searching for him. His name has not been released.

This is breaking news and will have updates.
