Lee health wants to expand its footprint while also becoming a landlord. The move is a part of a multi-million dollar deal that includes office space and apartments.

The chance to buy into a prime area in Cape Coral was an opportunity that Lee Health felt they could not turn down. On Thursday, the governing board agreed to spend up to $5,000,000 to buy a corner of land on Cape Coral Parkway and Palm Tree Drive.

It has a unique selling point, the building will house medical offices and much more. It is part of a mixed-use plan that will generate additional revenue for Lee Health.

“We would have a medical office complex on a corner that would consist of about 44,000 square feet of medical office space for adults and for kids as well, imaging services, lab, and the unique part for us is that we would also have two floors of apartments in our own building,” said Lee Health Chief Financial Officer Ben Spencer.

Last week Lee Health bought 23 acres of land off SW Pine Island Road near Veterans Parkway in Cape Coral to build a large health hub. All pointing to the explosive growth they are expecting to see in the area.
