The Immokalee Fire District is warning businesses about a potential fire inspections scheme.

According to the district, a man dressed in “an official-looking polo shirt” is making rounds and visiting several businesses in their fire district.

They say he is there under the auspice of conducting a fire inspection, and after completing such inspection he accepts cash as payment for services.

Immokalee Fire wants to remind business owners not to pay anyone in cash or card.

They say, if it’s an official inspector in an official capacity, they will have proper identification and you will receive an invoice in the mail following completion.

If this happens to you, Immokalee fire would like you to contact them.
