A man from Lehigh Acres was found guilty of drug trafficking on Thursday after a one-day trial in Lee County.

The State Attorney’s Office says Samuel Lewis, 41, was found guilty of trafficking 14 grams or more of amphetamine, 10 grams or more of phenethylamines (psychoactive drugs like MDMA), and possession of a controlled substance.

According to the State Attorney’s Office, in November 2019, Lee County Sheriff’s deputies went to conduct a search warrant at a home and found Lewis in a car in the driveway. They say he briefly spoke with deputies before getting back into his car and giving deputies consent to search the vehicle.

In the backseat, deputies found a backpack that had hundreds of clear baggies, a scale, and bags of needles. Based on the findings, deputies searched Lewis’ person and found clear baggies with what appeared to be drugs in them. A field test confirmed the presence of illegal narcotics in the bags and needles.

Lewis is set to be sentenced for the drug trafficking charges on September 6.
