Shawman Meireis (Courtesy) Shawman Meireis went from Naples to Chicago with her boyfriend to celebrate her 41st birthday, but she never returned home. Mereis was killed on a Chicago street by a vehicle. Chicago police responded to multiple street racing calls that night. The CBS station in Chicago said the driver of the Corvette, a 27-year-old man was street racing against a car driven by a 19-year-old woman. When the corvette driver was changing lanes, he hit the other car and Meireis. First responders rushed her to a nearby hospital where she later died. The Chicago Sun-Times reports both drivers were cutting each other off and weaving through traffic. The paper said her boyfriend was seen grabbing the driver of the Corvette and throwing him against a street lamp, yelling, “You killed my girlfriend.” Meireis’ boyfriend told WINK News he lost his soulmate. He said he will talk about what happened, but not until he gets her home and lays her soul to rest. Meireis got her MBA from Duke and worked as a consultant focused on pharmaceutical safety. Her family sent me a statement saying she was the ultimate aunt who loved her many nieces and nephews. She was much loved and will be deeply missed.
