A family is speaking out after their loved one dies from a stray bullet. The shooting happened Tuesday in the area of 16th Place Southwest in Golden Gate. It’s been an emotional couple of days for the family of 20-year-old Franki Dorvil. Franki Dorvil. (Credit: Dorvil’s family) This family is reeling, saying their brother was at the wrong place at the wrong time. “Franki was such a good kid like in his heart he was a wonderful, wonderful child he meant the best, and he wanted the best for everyone,” said Saddam Cesar, Dorvil’s brother. His mother is mourning the loss of her son. Dorvil was shot and killed Tuesday at an apartment complex in Golden Gate. “He opened the door at the wrong time, and he got shot. After that, my mom went to go comfort him in his last moments, and he passed sadly,” said Devonte Dorvil, Franki Dorvil’s brother. The senseless shooting is now under investigation, but for this family, what’s left are memories. “Franki gave the best hugs, like my little brother, he gave even when I started feeling pain about it. The first thing I did was hug myself,” said Cesar. Franki’s family said they are taking things one day at a time. Franki Dorvil. The family’s message to whoever is responsible. “You ripped an amazing person from us, and that hurts, and we are suffering right now, so if you can feel a bit of our of our pain and reflect on what you did,” said Devonte. Devonte said they are leaning on their faith, family, and friends, praying that the shooter’s conscience catches up to them. “Maybe ask for forgiveness, and if we are ready to give it, we can, but until then, we wait, we slow down, and we try our best to heal,” said Devonte. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is working to track down the shooter. They say the suspect was driving a black Kia Soul. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for any information that would lead to an arrest.
