A man from Fort Myers was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex crimes against a child on Tuesday.
The State Attorney’s Office says Jorel Millan Caraballo, 37, pled guilty to three counts of lewd and lascivious battery. Following his 20-year sentence, Caraballo will have to serve 10 years of sex offender probation and is now designated a sexual offender.
According to the State Attorney’s Office, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Caraballo in January 2020. The investigation began after a victim of Caraballo told friends about him committing lewd acts with her. Those friends then told a teacher, who reported the crime to law enforcement.
