A domestic situation evolved into a shooting and a barricaded subject in south Fort Myers on Friday afternoon.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to a home on Kent Street, near Fordham Street, on Thursday night and once again on Friday.

An argument turned into gunfire, which caused a woman to flee the house. She told authorities she was being held against her will at gunpoint.

Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said it “could have been tragic.”

Initially, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to WINK News that one person was injured by gunfire, while another was taken into custody, but no one was injured.

The sheriff’s office has not released the identity of the person taken into custody.

It took about 30 to 45 minutes to coax the man out of the home, talking the “subject out of the house without incident.”
