People in Southwest Florida have questions about balloons that have been seen floating in the sky.

A viewer provided an image of one balloon seen floating over Cape Coral and downtown Fort Myers Tuesday morning.

The Weather Authority team tracked two balloons that originated in Cape Coral and moved to the east.

They belong to a tech company called Near Space Labs. The company’s website said its mission is to “democratize high-quality geospatial data” and tackle issues like “urbanization and climate change” through images.

Once launched, the weather balloons take pictures of the earth from the sky.

We spotted two flight operators as they launched a balloon at Burton Memorial Park in Cape Coral Tuesday.

Rick Underwood witnesses the balloons in-flight. “My wife and I were on the dock enjoying a cup of coffee waiting for some dolphins to swim by and she noticed the balloon,” said Underwood. “I looked up and said ‘Oh Man!’ So, I ran inside and got my cellphone to grab a couple of pictures. My first thought was, I wonder if that’s Amazon trying out a new delivery service,” added Underwood.
