The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly car crash that killed two passengers in Immokalee, including a toddler. FHP reported the crash late Monday. It occurred at 732 Lauren Lane, where three people inside a single vehicle were discovered inside a lake. A 2-year-old child was transported to North Collier Hospital and was later pronounced deceased. An 27-year-old adult male was transported to the Gulf Coast Hospital, where doctors later pronounced him deceased, as well. A crowd of people gathered around the apartment complex, as first responders worked to pull the car and victims from the water. Troopers said the car accelerated and jumped the curb, drove through the grass and plunged into the water. WINK News spoke to Martha Baca, a neighbor about what happened. “It’s sad because lately, you know, I cannot imagine dying that way with my son or my daughter. It’s really sad,” said Baca. FHP says the driver was not hurt. The details of the crash are currently under investigation.
