The City of Cape Coral will host a Water Conservation Town Hall for homeowners on Monday, May 13, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. It will take place in Council Chambers, 1015 Cultural Park Boulevard.

Topics covered at the town hall

  • soil sensors and smart controllers
  • how to qualify for a $500 rebate
  • irrigation schedule variance for smart sensors
  • current irrigation schedule
  • fertilizer restrictions
  • water quality

The meeting will also be streamed on CapeCoral.gov.

Another issue being dealt with by people living in Cape Coral is their wells running dry.

It has been a yearly issue for Northeast Cape Coral which is still not hooked up to city water. It’s expected to be another 15-20 years before the Utilities Extension Project is completed and all of Cape Coral runs on city water.

Many worry that is too long to wait because their canal waters already fluctuate and their wells dry out.

“As we get more and more homes out here though, just like in the northwest and the southwest, we’re going to get impacted the same way,” said Cape Coral resident Richard Peppe.
