The Gulf Coast Humane Society received 18 dogs and two kittens from the Live Oak Animal Services, which was hit by Hurricane Debby earlier this week.

According to GCHS, 14 adult dogs and four puppies were among the canines transported. The shelter had to evacuate the shelter pets due to standing water in their kennels.

The transport arrived Tuesday evening.

One of the transporters with Furry Friends Hope on Wheels, which transported the shelter dogs, said two black kittens who hung out on the shelter grounds did not seem to want to leave the dogs.

When they were loading up the shelter dogs, the two kittens jumped on the bus, so it was decided to bring them along.
