Juan Carlos Gomez Credit: The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office A man has been arrested after allegedly stealing an unattended car in DeSoto County over the weekend. DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call on Sunday about a stolen vehicle at Big Tree RV Park. According to the sheriff’s office, the resident briefly stepped away, leaving the car unattended to cool down, when Juan Carlos Gomez reportedly took the car and drove off. A neighbor’s description helped deputies track Gomez nearby. Gomez was quickly detained, and the stolen vehicle, still running and undamaged, was recovered at a nearby business. Gomez is facing charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle.
