A boater has been missing since Monday after departing from Rose Marina in Marco Island and traveling between Sanibel and Stump Pass. Air and surface crews are currently searching for 70-year-old Bert Erwin, who was last seen departing Rose Marina. According to the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast, Erwin’s final destination was reportedly Indian Rocks Beach. According to authorities, his boat was found 28 miles off the shore of Englewood but Erwin was nowhere to be found. Those who know him said on Facebook that he’s a very experienced commercial fisherman. Boaters near Hubbard’s Marina at Indian Rocks Beach said they are keeping an eye out for him.
